Movies versus Tests - Final Project

Hello class.

My final project is a video. The topic I chose to tackle is The Bechdel Test and my journey to understanding it. While I had to scale down some of my ideas from my original proposal I think the message is clear and if I stumbled upon this prior to taking this class, it would have been exactly what I needed at the time. In the video, I talk about my discovery of the test, what the test is used for vs what it's meant for, the birth and purpose of the Mako Mori Test, and ultimately leave the viewer with real purpose of the video: think more about what you watch and talk about it.

I wanted to tackle this subject because of how accessible it is. Even if the viewer doesn't connect with my experience, they still get clarity on what it's meant to be used for since many people abuse it as a tool for film criticism. And because of how easy the test is to understand and the massive amount of cinematic type content we have access to online, it would require very little effort for someone to apply it.

I'm uploading this video to Youtube at the moment to get the feedback before putting it out to the public, so thank you for taking the time to watch it.
