Group 3: Advertising to Women in America

If you take a careful look at all the advertisements and commercials we come across every day, you'd realize that an overwhelming amount of them are targeted towards women. Looking into a brief history of the manipulations of advertisements, we see that the techniques and strategies used in the late 1920s began with Edward Bernays. Many of his ideas, for instance, utilizing social movements to promote certain products, are still in practice today. We look deeper into how much and how little ads have changed in carrying out sexist and stereotypical messages along with who controls the consumer power and how we can become more aware of the ways of marketing.
